Do you ever have a craving for something sweet? Sure, it’s nice to eat something that will satisfy your sweet tooth, but wouldn't it be delightful to bathe your whole body in a sweet-smelling bath? I think so, that’s why I came up with this simple and easy to create bath salt recipe that not only smells delicious but has the added benefits of soaking with salt, too!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of Minera or Calspa in a fine, medium or coarse grain
- Add 3 Drops of Melon Fragrance
- Add 2 Drops of Apple Fragrance
- You can also add 1 drop of Lemon Essential Oil to give it a splash of citrus
Instructions:
1) Add the salt into a small bowl or container.
2) Add fragrance or essential oils to the salt, a drop at a time
3) Mix to distribute the scent evenly among the salt blend.
4) Run the bath water to your desired temperature. To make it refreshing, have the water at a warm/cool temperature.
5) Add a generous amount to your bath, sit back relax and enjoy your time relaxing in candy land!

Studies have found that bathing either on a Full Moon or New Moon can have great benefits for the body and can enhance the great characteristics of Himalayan Salt.
Full Moon Bath
On the day of a full moon the body's absorption potential is at it’s peak. At full moon, the body will absorb the most minerals from the Himalayan Salt. Weak points of the body are harmonized and the body's own energy flow is activated.
New Moon Bath
During the new moon the body's capacity for detoxification at its highest peak. This is an ideal time for a cleansing and detoxifying salt bath with Himalayan Salt.
Why not try this?
Fill up your tub with warm/hot water and add about 1 cup of Himalayan Salt, sit back, relax and let those minerals go to work! Soak your body for 20 minutes, hop out the tub and wrap your body in a warm towel and relax for another 15 minutes before rinsing (you can rinse if you’d like but it is not essential to rinse the body off) and enjoy these natural benefits from this amazing salt.

It happens to many of us, we finally get that much needed time away from our regular day-to-day lives, and though we’re away and off to some wonderful destination somewhere, sometimes we don’t get as much rest and relaxation as we would have hoped for during the trip. I can vouch for this personally as most of the time while I’m away and on “vacation” I find myself running here and there either affixed to someone else’s schedule, busy sight seeing, or out enjoying the night life. One thing’s for sure, I usually somehow come back feeling just as tired (or more tired!) than I was before I left.
So, I decided that I’m going to start my own vacation ritual by taking more baths, not only during my time away from home but also the days following my return.
When I think about it, it makes perfect sense to take more baths around vacation time. Bathing, especially with some of your favorite bath salts, can help soothe your tired and aching body after long plane rides, and eventful days. Bathing with bath salts like Epsom Salt and Dead Sea Salt can also help rid the body of harmful toxins (consider the number of drinks consumed during vacation or those packed airplanes with who knows what kind of germs). Generally, the baths are just a nice way to unwind and let yourself truly relax at the end of the day and help you to get a better night’s sleep...
Here’s some of my picks for some great bath salt blends to try during and after your vacation to help you achieve true relaxation! Choose the one that’s most fitting for your own time away…

There are also common conversions noted on this page to make further calculating quick and easy.

Taking a time out from the hustle and bustle of the day to day is essential. Tonight, why don’t you try drawing a nice bath- add some of your favorite bath salts, light some candles or incense, tune into your favorite play list and last but not least, close that bathroom door!
Shutting yourself away for at least 20 minutes is a great way to end the day. You’ll get some quality "you" time to relax and unwind and you’ll sleep so much better that night.
Don't allow the following ruin a perfectly good soak:
-You spend your time sitting in the tub worrying about what’s on tomorrow’s agenda
-You bring your cell phone into the room with you- though you ignore the calls and don’t pick up this just sends your mom into a panic, so she keeps calling and calling…
-You forget to close the door completely and your dog snoops in to investigate
-Your bath gets interrupted by the sudden urge to pee and you have to hop out

Easter is just around the corner (Easter Sunday is April 4th). Fun bath salts like the Calspa Foaming Bath Salts and Fizzing Bath Salts are the perfect alternative to filling an Easter basket. Substituting bath salts for the usual candy filled baskets is a great way to give the gift of healing and relaxation in lieu of those sugary treats.
A Bath Salt Easter Basket can be quick and easy to make, though if you have the time and imagination you get really creative with these baskets. Once you have found your basket and filler such as Easter grass or raffia, package your bath salts in small re-sealable bags, or plastic jars. Add flair by adding your own labels, cello wrap, and ribbon and voila! You can also add other little bath related gifts such as scoops for the salts, loofahs and more!
Here are some popular color and scent combos to choose for Springtime bath salts:
Lime color with china rain fragrance
Aqua color with tranquility essential oil blend
Yellow color with lemon essential oil
Lilac color with lavender essential oil
Rose color with sweet pea & ivy fragrance
Feeling really crafty? Add Egg Shaped Bath Bombs to the baskets, too. Find this recipes and more in our Bath Blog Archives in the Recipes section.

There’s nothing I enjoy more at the end of a long day then to hop in the tub and take a nice relaxing bath. But with all the events of the day circling around in my mind it’s sometimes difficult for me to wind down enough to lie in the tub and just “be”.
The water will be the perfect temperature, and I’ll add some of my favorite bath salts and as I lay there I will be thinking of things that “I can’t forget to do tomorrow” instead of letting myself drift into that much needed relaxation.
I know the longer I stay in the tub, the more therapeutic it will be, and all the benefits of the salts will be greater if I can at least sit tight for a good twenty minutes, though I sometimes find myself a little restless and ready to hop out of the tub all too quickly. So I started thinking of things that I could do to keep myself occupied in the tub while keeping stress at bay and came up with this list:
A few ways to keep entertained in the tub while staying in a tranquil set of mind:
- Meditate. Replace all thoughts that are stress inducing and focus on all the positive things around you, leaving out any negativity. Reflecting on the good things in your life can leave you feeling centered and peaceful.
- Read. It can be a tricky undertaking to manage to read a book without soaking it, but if you can manage, it can be an enjoyable way to multi-task while still taking a time out from the rest of the world.
- Play Music. And sing along! Listening to some of your favorite tunes (whether it’s relaxing music or not) while you bathe can help you unwind at the end of your day. No matter the type of music, if you enjoy it, it’s sure to put you in a better mood.
- Lather Up. Grab that loofah and spend the extra time you have in the tub exfoliating your skin from head to toe. Focus on areas prone to dry skin like your elbows, knees, and feet that tend to get breezed over quickly during morning showers.
- Create a tub for two. Have your sweetie join you in the tub as a romantic ritual before bed. It’s a great way to spend time together while you both get to relax.

In the chaos of today’s busy lifestyles we often become prone to cold and flu viruses that can leave us fatigued and uncomfortable. With the demands of our careers and families we don’t always have the luxury of taking a sick day to nurture our aching and exhausting symptoms. Often when it comes down to either going to work in a bit of misery or using up one of our treasured vacation days, we usually opt to drag ourselves out of bed and head to work.
A perfect way for those with a demanding schedule to combat the inevitable cold or flu virus is to pamper one's tired body with a Cold and Flu Bath Soak at the end of the day.
Draw a bath to a comfortable temperature and add a couple handfuls of our Cold & Flu Bath Salts. Post bath, enjoy a cup of your favorite tea to hydrate yourself and further help to comfort your symptoms.
Our Cold & Flu Bath Salts feature these therapeutic ingredients:
Vitamin C - To reduce the effects of the common cold, high in antioxidants
Lemon Essential Oil - Boosts the immune system and reduces inflammation
Eucalyptus Essential Oil - Boosts the immune system, relieves sore muscles
Tea Tree Essential Oil - A natural antiseptic, also boosts the immune system
Organic Rosehips - Packed with Vitamin C as well as A, D, and E
Organic Hibiscus flower - High in antioxidants
Organic Echinacea Root - Strengthens the immune system
Organic Ginseng Root - Energizes the body
When you become run down, take care by lending 20-45 minutes of well deserved attention for YOU!

Please check out this short video clip as CNN senior medical correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, explores the healing benefits of bathing with mineral rich Dead Sea Salts. This segment includes a true testimonial from a psoriasis patient who has been bathing regularly with salts from the Dead Sea to treat his skin condition, with great results. The film includes incredible photos that were taken before and after he began this completely natural bathing routine.
Why choose Dead Sea Bath Salts?
Dead Sea Salts carry many benefits, particularly when used as bath salts. Dead Sea Salts effectively treat many skin conditions, from eczema and psoriasis to everyday conditions such as oily or dry skin. Dead Sea salts are also known to soothe rashes, calm allergic reactions, minimize dandruff and treat acne. Dead Sea salts have been known to improve the appearance of cellulite, manage the appearance of swelling due to water retention, and even treat hair loss. In addition, Dead Sea salts detoxify your skin, drawing out dirt, pollutants and impurities from each pore.

This year for Christmas I decided to give bath salts as gifts to my family and friends. I wanted to get them excited about bathing rather than rushing to take a quick shower. I wanted everyone to experience all the benefits of bathing, especially when adding therapeutic bath salts into their baths.
I chose a couple of the most popular and unique types of salt known for their benefits, the Dead Sea Salt and Himalayan Salt. I also thought it would be nice to have a festive salt for the holidays so I got some of the Candy Cane bath salts.
For the holidays I thought the candy cane salts would be perfect for gift giving because of their beautiful appearance- coarse pacific sea salt in a natural white and red color. Not only did they look great when I packaged them in jars but the smell was wonderful, too (peppermint essential oil).
I had to try the candy cane salts myself! I drew a nice warm bath and sprinkled a cup full of the salts into the tub. I was surprise by how quickly these coarse salts dissolved! The bath was fabulous as the aroma of peppermint softly filled the room without being too strong. It was the perfect treat to the end of a long day.
I’m looking forward to giving these gifts and knowing how good they’ll feel once they take a time out for themselves to relax and enjoy all that bathing has to offer.

The evenings and just before bed aren’t the only good times to take baths! Taking a bath as part of your morning routine can truly awaken you so that you can be energized, alert and focused for the day ahead.
The trick is to take a cool bath. Make it comfortable, but still try to keep the water as brisk as possible because too warm of a bath will only relax you. The second vital part to keeping it refreshing is to choose a scent, whether it be a fragrance or essential oil, that will also help to perk you up in the AM. A vibrant and cheerful colored bath salt can also help to set the tone of your day.
Recommend Morning Bath Soaks:
Calspa Deluxe or Minera Deluxe with your choice of one of these essential oils:
Eucalyptus, Juniperberry, Lemongrass, Orange, Peppermint, Spearmint or Lime.
Always rushing around in the morning? Take a cool shower and use one of our exfoliating salt scrubs in one of the suggested scents above.

Planning a party or event? Bath salts make great favors for special occasions whether it be a baby shower, bridal shower or just a girls night in for a spa party.
There are endless ways to package bath salts to create your own memorable favors. SFBSC has many packaging options available right on the website. No matter what you are using to put together these favors we have a helpful tool for you- it’s our bath salt calculator.
The bath salt calculator will estimate just how much salt you’ll need in order to fill your favor bottles, jars, boxes, and more!
All you need to know is how many fluid ounces* it takes to fill your container and how many favors you’ll need in all.
If your container is an odd shape and you’re not sure just how many fluid ounces it holds, simply fill it with water and then pour the water into a measuring cup to determine its capacity in fluid ounces. Our bath salt calculator will do the rest.
Keep in mind that there may be slight variations in how much salt you’ll actually need depending on the type of salt and its grain size, but this will surely give you a good estimate.
*Remember one fluid ounce is equal to 1.125 ounces of salt weight.

Pumkpin Bath Salts
I was really starting to feel the change of season… with the weather finally cooling off and with constant gusts of wind and leaves delicately falling all around me I felt the need to embrace the Autumn traditions. So, as soon as my work day was over I decided to visit my local pumpkin patch and selected two pumpkins that seemed to call out to me. After setting them upon my front steps when I got home I was eager to draw a nice bath and try out my butterscotch pumpkin bath salts.
I ran the water and used a good two cups of salt so that I could not only enjoy the wonderful aroma of this great scent but also so that I could gain all the benefits from the minerals in the salt. I knew I was going to really enjoy this soak in the tub because it has Dead Sea Salt in addition to Pacific Sea Salt. This blend of salts makes a great combination for soothing muscle aches and pains, ridding the body of toxins and softening the skin.
I stayed in the tub last night for a good forty-five minutes and I enjoyed every minute of it. I had kept my bathroom door closed so the scent of sweet butterscotch and pumpkin spice never dissipated. When I got out I felt great! The bath had truly warmed and relaxed me and I slept well all through the night- this was my start to a new Autumn tradition.

Spring is Here!
The flowers are in full bloom and since daylight savings time, once again after work there’s still daylight left to go out and enjoy the evening! So instead of ending your day with a bath, why don’t you start your day with one?
For the perfect Spring bath that will get you energized and ready for the day select a Custom Bath Salt that is bright and cheery and a scent that will wake you up! Citrus essential oils like Grapefruit, Lime Tang, Lemon, and Orange are sure to do the trick.
You can also try making your own- Here are a few Spring inspired bath recipes to try for creating your own aromatherapy morning soak. Each recipe is enough for about a dozen baths. To make sure that your bath doesn’t keep in you in sleep mode, run the water cool (but keep it comfortable). For the last few seconds of your bath, try letting some colder water run into the tub You don’t need to soak in the tub long- a few minutes should do it. After all, this is to kick start your day!
To create your own custom blend, place the salt in a large bowl. Carefully add the correct amount of essential oils (for the recipe of your choice) to your salt. You can mix with your hands (we recommend using latex gloves) to blend the oils evenly into the salts.
SubLime
5 lbs Calspa Natural Sea Salt
10 drops Lime Essential Oil
30 drops Lemon Essential Oil
This blend will get you energized and will uplift your spirit for the day.
Awakening
5 lbs Calspa Natural Sea Salt
20 drops Orange Essential Oil
30 drops Ylang Ylang III Essential Oil
This blend will not only refresh you, it will help reduce stress while uplifting and balancing your mood.
Morning Meadow
5 lbs Calspa Natural Sea Salt
30 drops Sage Essential Oil
30 drops Geranium Essential Oil
This blend will stimulate your brain and will enhance memory while uplifting and balancing your mood.
These recipes yield about 10 baths each.
*Use care when working with essential oils. You should consult your physician before using essential oils if you are pregnant, have high blood pressure or other medical conditions.

If you love baking delicious treats but don’t want the extra calories, we have a solution for you- Bath Salt Cookies! They’re even easier to make than the real thing and they’re sure to get you soaking in the tub! You can use our raw natural salts for this recipe like our Minera Dead Sea Salt. In fact, one of the elements found in Dead Sea Salts is potassium, which can help reduce cellulite & water retention! If you’d like a little more flair to your cookie, try our Minera Deluxe Salt with color and scent (we recommend vanilla in beige).
2 Cups Sea Salt (fine grain works best)
½ Cup of Baking Soda
½ Cup of Cornstarch
4 Tablespoons of Almond Oil
1-2 Eggs
Preheat your oven to 350.
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl, then stir in almond oil and eggs.
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto an un-greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 7 minutes (time may vary but you want to bake until cookies are firm).
Allow cookies to cool until hardened.
To use drop 1 or 2 cookies into a warm bath.
You can packaged the cookies in take-out boxes, cello bags or glass jars to give as gifts. Be sure to tell your friends and family that they are for the bath and not to eat (though they make look and smell good enough)!

If you mention the word “bathing” nowadays, we tend to think of soaking in our bathtub, alone. We think of bathing as a way to cleanse our bodies and take some nice, quiet time for ourselves.
Imagine, instead of meeting friends for dinner, you meet them all at the local bathhouse. Yes, that’s right – you disrobe, step into a large pool of water filled with other people, and socialize. Sounds weird, right? Well, thousands of years ago, the Greeks and Romans built huge “bath emporiums” – fancy, public bathhouses that served as a meeting place for the elite. It was believed that by simply walking through the doors to enter the space, one could be healed. As many as 6,000 bathers would congregate here at once to relax, socialize, and even conduct important business meetings. Bathhouses were not open to the general public, however; they were often restrictive and allowed visitors in based upon gender, religion or class.
Some of these impressive bathhouses were so large, they contained art galleries, prayer rooms, and meditation areas. There were numerous smaller, private rooms for more intimate meetings. The bathhouses hosted live entertainment, festivals, dinners, and often housed gym facilities. Soldiers wounded in battle would often visit the bathhouses, which sometimes employed healers and doctors to tend to patients. As many as seven healers would tend to one lucky patient, and would offer various treatments including herbs, gemstones, and color therapy.
There were servants who would pamper the most elite visitors with massages, fancy meals and assistance with errands.
The Greeks and Romans each had a unique approach to bathing. The Greeks appreciated the hygienic benefits of bathing, and saw it as something one did before important meetings and after a hard day’s work. Their bathhouses, while beautiful and impressive, did not compare to the magnificence of the Roman baths. Roman bathhouses were grand structures with ornate details. They were the first to use colored plaster in the baths as a healing technique.
The Greeks and Romans weren’t alone in their love of bathing – the Turks are famous for their Turkish Baths, beautiful bathhouses with fixtures made of solid silver, gold, and brass, finely woven tapestries and carpeting, and impressive columns and pillars.
The Japanese, with their fixation on cleanliness and love of bathing, also enjoyed large, stately bathhouses. However, sexual promiscuity and public sexual relations became such an issue that laws were passed, separating the men and women with changes in architecture and layout – boys on one side, girls on the other. Public bathhouses are still immensely popular in Japan today.
Much later, in the mid 1800’s, England opened its first public bath, in Liverpool. 60 years later, most towns in England had at least one public bathhouse.
Stay tuned to find out more about the fall of public bathhouses, and how we got from soaking with drinks in our hands in large, palatial buildings to bathing in private bathrooms with the door closed behind us.

Finally, you can start with a clean slate. The holidays are over, the new year has begun. You have made many promises to yourself: you will exercise more, put more effort into your relationships and your work, you will finally organize your closets and clear out your filing cabinets. You’ll learn a new language, take an art class, spend more time with your children. You’ll be more romantic, you’ll be more confident, you’ll be more happy.
The new year is still very new, and you are already very, very tired.
You made your list in a fit of self-assuredness (and maybe after you had some champagne). With each item on your list you felt as if you were already changing, a better person just for having written each resolution down. But now, you look at your list and wonder how you will summon the energy to actually keep those promises you made to yourself.
Hopefully, one of your resolutions was to take a bath at least twice a week. Bathing is not only good for relaxation, however - bathing can be energizing and can give you the strength you need to keep the rest of those resolutions.
For a truly energizing, uplifting bath, you can add essential oils to your bath salts. Citrus scents such as Tangerine, Orange, and Lime will uplift you. Ginger and grapefruit are wonderful as well. Minty scents such as Peppermint and Spearmint help to increase your circulation. Chamomile, Lavender, and Ylang-Ylang promote tranquility.
Color is a powerful energizer as well. Combine the scents above with the right colors to fit your mood (or the mood you would like), for instance: Orange, Tomato, Lime, and Yellow are warm, uplifting colors. Combine these with some citrus scents and you’ll have the energy for the new year to finally tackle your most daunting tasks.
Here’s to a fresh start, and a wonderful year!

You want to look your very best, but you don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on spa trips, expensive creams and lotions or other treatments. You’d like to do your beauty routine at home.
Good news: bathing is an inexpensive yet effective beauty treatment that will do wonders for your skin, your spirit, and your overall health. High quality bath salts contain nutrients and minerals that nourish your skin and boost your skin’s natural self-defense system, protecting against harmful effects of the sun, harsh weather conditions, and even aging. Your skin will look radiant and feel softer to the touch - without you having to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on expensive skincare. Bathing also carries other benefits that impact how you look - you’ll sleep better, your stress levels will go down, and you’ll feel healthier. Take baths regularly and you will see a big difference!

The days of going to a palatial bath house to socialize might be over, but convening in water is still popular, especially in the form of jacuzzis and hot tubs. Whether you're at a friend's house, soaking in the jacuzzi with friends over a beer, or at the gym after a long workout, there is etiquette to follow to ensure that everyone is comfortable and safe.
Here are some general tips and guidelines to keep in mind when you share the water with friends:
1) Rinse Your Swimsuit/Swim Trunks in Water: Rinse our your swim clothes in clean tap water before you enter the jacuzzi. This will prevent chemicals and bacteria from being introduced into the water. Also, leftover detergent can make the water foamy.
2) Before you turn up the heat, ask everyone if it's ok. Some people might be sensitive to the heat.
3) Same goes for the jets – be sure the water pressure is comfortable for everyone before you turn those knobs.
4) You can add scented bath salts to make it an even more pleasurable experience – just make sure everyone agrees on the fragrance.
5) Don't eat while soaking.
6) Be extra cautious while drinking that beer or cocktail in the jacuzzi – hot water can vastly increase the ef ects of alcohol.
7) Keep rough housing to a minimum. Terrible things can happen – hair can get tangled in drains and/or jets, and drowning is possible, despite the shallowness of the tub.
8) If you have a young child, be careful that he or she does not have to go to the bathroom before you take him or her into the hot tub with you.
9) Have fun!

You’ve probably heard it before. You tell a friend you took a nice, long relaxing bath, and her response is: “But when you take a bath, aren’t you just soaking in your own dirt?”
Let’s examine this argument for a minute. Chances are you’re not squeaky clean when you first step into the tub. You lie there and soak – for 15, 20 minutes. There’s a ring on the tub when you’re done. Ewww, gross.
But hold on - the ring on the edge of your tub is a good thing, and here’s why. Bathing is an incredible way to cleanse your skin – much more effective than showering. When you take a shower, you quickly rub some soap on your skin, rinse, and get out. Thing is, you’ve only washed the outermost layers of your skin. Bathing in warm water, preferably with bath salts, draws impurities from deep inside your pores, cleansing you on a much deeper level than a simple shower. The dirt around your tub is dirt that has left your body – dirt that probably wouldn’t come out after a quick shower.
The warm water opens up your pores. The water, enhanced with the minerals and nutrients in your bath salts, is able to seep into nooks and crannies in your skin that water from a shower won’t hit. Oil, soap residue, pollutants and impurities rise to the surface and are drawn out and are gone forever. To answer your question, all the gunk that has left your skin will not come back in. Once it’s out, it’s out – and down the drain for good.
Tuesday, 11 November 2008
Ahh. You’ve come home from work, exhausted, stressed and fatigued. First thing that’s on your mind? A quick shower, perhaps? “That will relax me!” you tell yourself.
Wrong! A quick shower is not what the body ordered. What’s better? Bathing. Indeed, a nice hot bath with some fragrant, healing bath salts will soothe away the day’s aches and pains and clear your mind of internal clutter.
Civilizations for centuries have realized the benefits bathing offers. You’ve seen portrayals of bath houses in films, haven’t you? These depictions are spot on historically accurate. Think about the Roman bath houses and medieval bathing rules. People did bathe back then, you know. In fact, they bathed even on Sundays, the day of rest, and they washed their hands before meals! In addition, the Japanese have elaborate and tempting rituals, soaking for a while before they wash, really enjoying the full benefits of a bath. Think about this history, how enjoyable you remember it seeming, and then think BATH!
And as you’re filling up the tub, don’t forget the Bath Salts! They’re aromatic and healing, promoting relaxation and wellness. Adding such salts can improve circulation and reduce tenderness and inflammation. Sore back? Muscle pain? Arthritis? Fibromyalgia? You can help all these problems by just taking a dip in bath-salted water.
Also, bath salts open the pores, purifying the skin and making it smooth as silk. Your dry skin can get moister through a bath, and insect bites, eczema and athlete’s foot can all melt away after you start a bathing ritual. Calluses on your feet will get softer as the bath salts circulate around you, not only cleansing you but also healing you. Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?
If you want to relax even more and really alleviate the day’s stress, add aromatherapy bath salts. Infused with scents, these stimulate calmness, generating even further relaxation. Coupled with that relaxation is a good night’s sleep, with which bath salts can help. Who doesn’t need that?
So now it’s time to take a break from this glaring computer screen and hop in the tub. All you have to lose is your stress, aches and pains. Enjoy the delights of this high-quality relaxation technique today.

At the moment, we’re pretty much surrounded by bad news. We turn on the TV and a news anchor is telling us our stocks have hit an all-time low. Turn the channel, and there is yet another negative political ad. Turn it once more, talking heads are telling us the horrific state of the global economy. You feel it is your duty to listen, to stay informed and be educated as to what’s going on. And undoubtably, you should - but not for hours upon hours. Balance is key.
So how do you achieve balance in your life? Chances are, you’re feeling stress about the current political and economic climate. While it’s good to stay “up” on the news, you should be taking care of yourself and taking a much-needed break fro the hype. You’re probably looking for an escape, and one that is inexpensive and won’t l break the bank. Solution: take a bath!
Instead of coming home from work and going straight to the couch, leave the remote on the coffee table and take a bath instead. You’ll feel energized and positive, something we all need. Taking a bath will allow you time to reflect on your day, take some quiet time for yourself and relax. You’ll get a better night sleep, your stress levels will decrease and you’ll gain some perspective.
Here are some steps you can take towards the perfect bath. Run some warm water and don’t forget to add bath salts. Natural bath salts (made from salts found in oceans around the world) contain an amazing variety of nutrients and minerals that will keep your body balanced and healthy from the inside out. The key is to find bath salts that have been left untreated, unwashed and are taken directly from their source to your home. At the San Francisco Bath Salt Company, our bath salts are always brought to you in their natural state, full of minerals and nutrients.
You can choose from an array of different bath salts to suit your needs, and the possibilities are endless. You can choose the color of your salts, and you can choose what fragrances, essential oils, and herbs are added to your bath salts. For instance, if you are feeling stress in your life, some blue bath salts infused with lavender will bring a you tranquility and relaxation. If you feel worn down and need energy, try yellow bath salts with citrus essential oils to invigorate you. Once your bath salts are immersed in water, their amazing healing properties will be released for you to soak in.
Dim the lights, light a candle or two, and escape from this crazy world for a while. Make sure no radios or TVs are on in your house - this a time of complete silence and a time to get away from all the negativity crossing over the airwaves. Relaxing music is okay - just no talk radio! You can’t fix the world by worrying about it, and having a few extra moments to clear your mind might leave fertile ground for new ideas and perspectives. Who knows? After a good bath, maybe you can change the world.

Next time you have big plans - a wedding, a date with that special someone, a reunion or a party, take a bath before you go! You’ll arrive looking and feeling your very best, and you’ll enjoy other benefits that may surprise you.
The bigger the event, the bigger the stress; chances are, you’ve spent time planning and preparing, not to mention over-thinking. You hope you have a great time, and if you’re hosting, you hope everything works out perfectly and everyone else is happy. Taking a bath as part of your preparation will lower your blood pressure and give you time to be alone, to drift away and take a moment to escape.
The night before, you will toss and turn in anticipation, and may be unable to get the sleep you need to arrive the next day feeling your best - unless youtake a bath. Light some candles around the tub, pour in some soothing bath salts infused with lavender or another calming scent, and soak for 45 minutes before you go to sleep. You will still be excited about the next day - but you’ll fall into a long, pleasurable sleep and wake up feeling energized and renewed!
Bathing also helps you look your best. Your skin will be softer and smoother, you will be well-rested with a healthy glow. Now that you are feeling and looking your best, you’re sure to have a wonderful time!

That’s right - bath salts aren’t the only way to achieve baby-soft skin. Exfoliation, a popular spa treatment, involves sloughing off the skin’s outermost, dry, dead skin cells to reveal newer, softer skin underneath. There are a variety of tools out there that helps us do this: pumice stones (often for the feet), sea sponges, scrubs made of nuts, seeds, or (of course) salt crystals, and many more. But flesh-eating fish are becoming a popular addition to spa treatments and bathtubs around the world. Seriously.
The fish hired to do the job go by the name of Garra Rufa, and are also referred to as “nibble fish”, “reddish log sucker”, and “doctor fish”. These fish are mostly found in the waters of the Middle East, particularly in Iran, Syria, Iraq, and Turkey. What really sets these fish apart from others is their voracious appetite for dead skin - your dead skin. You get softer skin, he gets a nice big meal. Talk about a symbiotic relationship!
This exfoliating fish treatment is catching on all over the globe, but its roots lie in Asian and Turkish spas. This year, the first “fish spa” treatment in the United States opened up for business in Virginia - apparently this trend is catching on! The treatments take place in outdoor pools, which add to the benefits and pleasure. The fish are commonly used in pedicure treatments but can be used in bath water to exfoliate the entire body. A pedicure or bath using these little guys can cost anywhere from $35-$50 for a half hour. Proponents say the sensation of being nibbled on actually feels quite good, and people say it is an amazing treatment for psoriasis and other skin disorders. For some, the treatment offers nothing more than the promise of impeccably clean skin.
So how can it possibly feel good? For one thing, this hungry little fish is actually toothless - so “nibble” and “bite” aren’t really accurate terms for what they do. Interestingly, they only consume dry and dead areas of the skin - everything else is left alone, so you don’t have to worry about being eaten alive.
If you don’t feel like driving to Virginia, or the thought of being “nibbled” on by a bunch of fish spooks you, you can always try adding high quality bath salts to your tub instead - it’s a little easier, and a lot cheaper. While you take your bath, gently rub a handful of sea salts over your body to exfoliate your skin. You’ll be softer and smoother, and reap all the benefits of a bath with flesh-eating fish - without any flesh-eating fish.

When people think of taking a bath, they generally only think of taking one at night. Baths are extraordinarily relaxing and often make you feel sleepy, so it’s logical that we think of bathing before bedtime.
But did you know that bathing can also be invigorating, and even energizing? If you find yourself groping for your coffee in the morning and taking a quick shower only to show up at work tired, you should consider taking a bath before you go.
For an energizing bath, keep the water warm but not necessarily hot, and mix in some bath salts infused with essential oils from energizing sources. Orange, lime, tangerine, and ginger are all good choices. Color, believe it or not, is also important - choose a bright color such as yellow, orange red or even green to lift your spirits. You’ll save money on coffee, you’ll look radiant, and you’ll feel mentally sharp - so tomorrow, take your bath in the morning and start the day right!

Bathing in Success

In this fast-paced, modern lifestyle that most of us live these days, the simple things in life are often overlooked. Schedules are filled with dozens of responsibilities, and getting ready for the day often means a quick douse in the shower and a meal on-the-go. Bathing was only for the younger years, when there was time for bubbles and toys. But if you ask Lee Williamson, founder and CEO of the San Francisco Bath Salt Company, we should all take time out of our week for a soothing bath, no matter what our age or what our to-do list says.
Lee Williamson moved from England to America nearly twenty years ago, where he eventually settled in the Silicon Valley. Because of his work, Williamson was forced to commute four hours each workday; long commutes make for sore bodies. It was during this time that he remembered relaxing childhood baths in England and on a visit to Pier 39, he spotted a woman selling scented, colored bath salts at a kiosk. The interesting thing was that there always seemed to be a crowd attracted to her bath products every time Lee went by. He put two and two together and realized that here was a great opportunity that he could not pass up. It was in the year 2002 that things really came together, and the San Francisco Bath Salt Company (SFBSC) was founded.
"We like to say that we're re-inventing the art of bathing," said Lee, a resident of Union City. "Bathing really is a lot better than taking a shower; it helps to draw impurities from the skin, and it's great for muscle aches and pains." When salt minerals and essential oils are added to the bath water, the benefits are even greater.
At SFBSC, dozens of different salt combinations can be mixed and matched, from amount and salt grain size, to colors and scents. Salts are gathered from locations all over the world, from the Himalayan Mountains to the Dead Sea; these salts are naturally packed with minerals that soothe, clean, and restore skin. When you use good-quality bath salts and minerals, it is like "you're bringing the ocean right into your bath," said Williamson. "We stay as natural as possible."
The bath salts are available in over sixty scents as varied as ginger, pear, and citrus crush, lavender, eucalyptus, and rose garden. Over a dozen colors are available as well, so there truly is a bath salt for everyone; whether it be a relaxing bath before bedtime to welcome sleep, or a soak to refresh and invigorate both mind and body.
Also available at the SF Bath Salt Company are scrubs, body washes, and lotions, plus many other bath and shower essentials. If you would like to see some displays of bath products, be sure to visit the SFBSC "outlet store" warehouse in Hayward.
The other way to view the many varieties of bath salts, body scrubs, and other fine products from SFBSC, is to visit their website at www.sfbsc.com. There you will find not only many great products and deals, but also great information such as the "Top 10 Reasons to Take a Bath," Customer Testimonials and FAQs, and "Tips for the Perfect Bath," so that the ultimate bathing experience can be achieved.

You’re a guy. Your morning ritual consists of a quick shower using only the basics: a bar of deodorant soap (Coast, anyone?) and a shaver. If it’s a special occasion, you may use aftershave. You’re out the door quickly and you pride yourself in taking less time to get ready than your female counterparts.
But consider this: everyone, regardless of gender, benefits from having softer, healthier skin, a better night’s sleep, and a stronger libido - which can all be yours if you take regular baths. Bathing, particularly when using sea salts, delivers valuable nutrients and minerals to your skin that help protect and nourish it - making it softer, smoother, more supple, and able to defend against harsh elements. Bathing also lowers your blood pressure and has a wonderful calming effect, so bathing at night time is a great treatment for insomnia and other sleep disorders. And yes, bathing can actually increase your sex drive. The warm water and the invigorating effect of bath salts will increase your circulation - ‘nuff said. Not to mention, you’ll feel more relaxed, healthier, and smoother to the touch.
Try taking a bath instead of that quick shower twice a week - you won’t regret it!

Even Martha Stewarts website is now recommending a good relaxing bath. See excerpt below from marthastewart.com
A bath is a quick and easy way to unwind. Ten to twenty minutes in the tub is a proven way to reduce tension, rejuvenate the body, and clear your head. Adding a fragrant oil or a sprinkling of salts can make for an even more peaceful environment. Here are some tips.
Calming Scents
Some aromas have particularly soothing effects. The best ones for overall relaxation are basil, grapefruit, pine, lavender, tangerine, rose geranium, chamomile, lemongrass, and orange. Use them in the form of essential oils or scented bath products.
The ideal water temperature for a tranquil soak should be between 90 and 104 degrees. Use these ingredients for added benefits: Bath salts (most of which are made from either sea or Epsom salts) can help to draw soreness out of muscles and joints. Pour in two to three cups of warm milk (basic powdered milk is fine, too); the lactic acid gently exfoliates dry skin. Treat yourself to a tub full of frothy bubbles, or toss in effervescent bath tablets -- they perfume the water while releasing skin-softening oils. For hydrating and smoothing the skin, use a few drops of oil or a bar of moisturizing soap that has a calming fragrance.

San Francisco Bay Area, CA (Vocus/PRWEB ) June 9, 2008 - "It's simple, affordable, and enjoyable and is rapidly gaining widespread popularity and attention: bathing in natural bath salts. Offering a wide range of natural healing and therapeutic benefits, many people are starting to spend more time in the bath to enjoy the benefits of a relaxing soak. Leading this new trend is the San Francisco Bath Salt Company, a Bay-Area based company who over the last 6 years has re-invented the forgotten art of bathing.
“The benefits of bathing in sea salt are incredibly far-reaching,” says Lee Williamson, Founder and CEO of the San Francisco Bath Salt Company. “When you add sea salts to your bath, you are essentially bathing in the ocean, which has long been known to promote skin health and general well-being”. Williamson grew up in the UK, where bathing in sea salts was a part of his daily routine. It has been his mission to bring his appreciation and love for bathing to the United States.
Bathing has always been a popular way to decrease stress and soothe muscle aches and pains, but most people aren’t aware of the many other valuable benefits of bath salts. Individuals with common skin conditions such as psoriasis, dry skin, or acne are now turning to bathing as a natural, lower-cost alternative to expensive and often ineffective treatments.
Many cosmetic companies are now selling new lines of bath salt products designed to soften the skin, slow the aging process, decrease stress and even cure insomnia. The salts are harvested around the world, mainly from the Pacific Ocean, the Himalayan Mountains, and the Dead Sea. They can be sold plain or infused with a variety of herbs, fragrances and essential oils to increase the therapeutic effects. The San Francisco Bath Salt Company recently launched a new innovative “Spa Therapy” line of bath salts, which capitalizes on the many benefits of natural sea salts from around the World.
Established in 2002, The San Francisco Bath Salt Company, is a known leader in the bathing industry, and offers retail, bulk, and private label products. All manufacturing is done in California and their website www.sfbsc.com is the largest resource for bath salts in the world. “Our daily lives are becoming more fast-paced,” says Williamson, “and we need the benefits of bathing more than ever before. Bath salts are indeed becoming the newest trend in skin care and relaxation.”

You’re ready for 2008, armed with a list of things you’d like to start doing, stop doing, and do better. You’ll actually use your gym membership; you’ll eat healthier; you’ll quit smoking/drinking/talking too much/being lazy.
None of that sounds like much fun, and by February, you may find yourself returning to your old ways.
But there is one healthy resolution you can make that is so enjoyable, you’re sure to keep it: take more baths!
The benefits of bathing extend much further than simple enjoyment - there are numerous health benefits you may not be aware of. Bathing in warm water can reduce your blood pressure, leaving you feeling calm and refreshed. When you add bath salts to the mix, the benefits are amazing. Sea water holds minerals and nutrients that are essential in your skin's ability to regenerate and heal, not to mention to simply function well on a day-to-day basis. When you add bath salts to your bath, you are in effect creating your very own sea water, and will reap many natural benefits of the ocean. The warm water causes your skin's pores to open, allowing healthy nutrients in the salts to be absorbed.
You can find bath salts that address your specific needs. There are salts designed to improve your skin’s health, elasticity and tone; some salts are known to draw impurities from your skin and detoxify you from the inside out; some bath salts are known to produce a calming, relaxing effect.
Think about your challenges, and create a bath that will help you live healthier and happier. Are you often stressed and anxious? Add some lavender or peppermint salts to your bath. Do you suffer from insomnia? Bathing by itself can treat insomnia by relaxing your muscles and your mind, and the right salts infused with essential oils can deliver and amazing nights’ sleep. If you’re concerned about toxins and pollution in the air (and perhaps your diet), take a bath with our Detox salts, formulated using Dead Sea salts.
If you're often tired and out of energy, soak in an energizing blend of citrus oils and herbs to perk you up. No matter what your needs, you can find the perfect bathing “recipe”!
Make a resolution to take at least one bath a week. Pick a day and a time to be alone, to relax, and treat yourself to a healthy, long, relaxing bath. Start the New Year right, with a resolution you'll be happy to keep!
